Latin Americans in Queensland
The Latin-American population in Queensland and in Australia has grown rapidly particularly in recent years. Based on the 2016 Census, there are over 131,121 people in Australia who were born in Latin America and over 21,800 of them living in Queensland. Given that these numbers do not account for second and third generations, it is anticipated that the population with Latin American
background is even larger.

Culturally-appropriate aged care service for the Spanish-speaking community
This project was proposed and lead by LACA QLD together with a group of community groups and community members aims to establish and consolidate a culturally appropriate aged care service for the Spanish-speaking community in Queensland in partnership with Prins Willem Alexander Village (Netherlands Association Retirement Village) – MiCare.
It is the continuation of a long community process of seeking these types of services and a valuable opportunity to face the challenges resulting from ageing in a foreign country together, building a better present and future for us all.
