MALU (Brasil) — LAFF Brisbane 2025 | Free screening

MALU — Brazil
Description
Set in 1990s Rio, Malu paints a fearless portrait of three generations of women navigating a city – and a family – in transition.
Malu, a once-celebrated actress, faces unemployment and stalled dreams while reckoning with a combustible relationship with her
traditional mother and the growing distance from her teenage daughter. With raw honesty and flashes of dark humour, the film
captures the push-and-pull between independence and belonging, the weight of expectation, and the fragile hope that bridges mothers and daughters.
